Three Square has temporarily suspended normal food distribution to any agency partners that are not on the emergency distribution list.<br>The non-profit also has services available for seniors. Between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, anyone in Southern Nevada over the age of 60 can speak to an advocate at (702) 765-4030 to help determine what services are available to help them access food.<br>Smith\u2019s food and drug stores are also offering special<br>shopping hours for seniors. On Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 7:00 a.m.<br>to 8:00 a.m., stores will be open only to seniors, allowing them to avoid<br>busier shopping times.<br>Additionally, Smith\u2019s is waiving the pick-up fee for<br>curbside pickup online orders for customers who are over 60 years of age. If they select \u201cno,\u201d the system will ask whether they need an interpreter and provide 13 language options as well as \u201cother.\u201d\u00a0<br>If the applicant would like to add someone 18 years of age or older to apply for benefits or act on their behalf, they have the option to add an authorized representative.\u00a0<br>The portal allows the user to check which services they qualify for, by entering information about their household:<br>Type of housing (homeless, public, subsidized, etc.)\u00a0<br>Rent or mortgage and child care expenses<br>Combined total income and resources including vehicles, insurance, retirement, property and other assets<br>Age of household members and whether they are disabled or pregnant<br>Citizenship status<br>Based on the information provided, a matrix will come up telling the user which programs each household member qualifies for: cash, medical, food, WIC or child care. The user will then be redirected to a page that invites them to check the boxes of programs they want to apply for and begin their applications, which also can be submitted through the portal.\u00a0<br>Applications can be saved if the applicant cannot complete it in one sitting. The Access Nevada portal also allows the user to communicate with the Department of Welfare and Social Services with messaging and a To-Do list.<br><br><br><strong>Public benefits for non-citizens<\/strong><br>Ineligible non-citizens who do not meet citizenship eligibility criteria\u00a0<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/dwss.nv.gov\/Medical\/2_General_Information\/\" target=\"_blank\">may qualify<\/a>\u00a0for some limited Medicaid coverage. These applicants must meet all other eligibility requirements except for citizenship. Non-citizens are ineligible for all other benefits.\u00a0<br>Applicants are required to provide information about the citizenship or immigration status for all persons who are applying for assistance. Qualified non-citizen status is verified with the United States Citizenship and Immigration Service (USCIS) for eligibility purposes. Information on non-applicants or non-citizens will not be shared with USCIS.\u00a0<br>Failure to provide citizenship or immigration status information will render the individual applicant ineligible for benefits. Other family or household members may still receive benefits if they are otherwise eligible.\u00a0<br><br><br><strong>Free dental care for children whose parents have been laid off<\/strong><br>Dr. Steven DeLisle, a pediatric dentist in Las Vegas, said that Children\u2019s Dentistry of Las Vegas is now offering free dental care for Southern Nevada children whose parents have been laid off because of the coronavirus pandemic. Children\u2019s Dentistry has nine offices spread throughout the Las Vegas Valley and Pahrump.<br>DeLisle said that parents wishing to schedule services should call (702) 99-TOOTH (998-6684) to be routed to the closest office to their home.<br><br><br><strong>Online filing for unemployment benefits<\/strong><br>Nevadans can file unemployment insurance claims<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"http:\/\/ui.nv.gov\/css.html\" target=\"_blank\">\u00a0online<\/a>\u00a024 hours a day.<br>There are online video tutorials available in<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=VhVcEV9JqfI\" target=\"_blank\">\u00a0English<\/a>\u00a0and in<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=CDHQIW627AA\" target=\"_blank\">\u00a0Spanish<\/a>\u00a0to help users create accounts and begin filing claims.<br>Additionally, the Nevada Department of Employment, Training and Rehabilitation (DETR) have extended the hour of their unemployment lines to 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Friday.
